Gender Justice Uncovered Awards

CHALLENGE

To help promote the Gender Justice Uncovered Awards, a project of Women’s Link Worldwide, to both raise awareness of the impact of judicial decisions on the lives of women worldwide and to solicit nominations of cases and ultimately a popular vote on the best and worst legal decisions for women, holding the judges of those decisions accountable.

SOLUTION

Develop an easily digestible and shareable animated film that could engage new audiences in the 2013 Gender Justice Uncovered Awards.

OVERVIEW

This animated short video promoted a campaign led by Women’s Link Worldwide to solicit nominations and ultimately popular votes on the best and worst judges for women’s rights globally to hold these judges accountable for their decisions related to women in the public eye. Nominations were entered into the only global database of judicial decisions affecting women’s rights. We worked with Women’s Link Worldwide to establish their goals for the video and to select emblematic cases to profile in the short video. We then developed a script, chose an animator, and then worked collaboratively to ensure the film would have broad appeal.

Impact

The reach of the video drove approximately four times more submissions than ever before for entry into Women’s Link Worldwide unique database on legal decisions that impact women. The video was used for several more years by Women’s Link Worldwide due to the success it had in its first year. The video was so well received it was used for several years after to advertise the awards.
